Precision Machinist/Toolmaker

Hummingbird is looking for a talented manufacturing expert to join our group - a self-starter who can solve challenging machining and manufacturing problems. You’ll work closely with our engineering staff and clients in academia and industry to develop next-generation tools for electron and ion microscopy. This position provides exposure to a diverse range of people and projects.

The right candidate will have a strong foundation in CNC milling and turning, CAD/CAM programming, and 3-D solid modeling using SolidWorks or Pro-E, as well as precision inspection and precision machining to tolerances of +/-.0001".

Ideally, you'd also have experience with the following:

• High-vacuum components and cleaning
• A wide range of materials including stainless steel, titanium, copper, aluminum, bronze, plastics, and ceramics
• Fanuc or Mitsubishi CNC controls
• Mori-Seiki CNC mills and lathes
• CMM
• Wire EDM, Sinker EDM, and precision grinding
• BSIT, BSMET, BSME.

Lastly, the right candidate will have strong communication skills and be the kind of person always coming up with new ideas on how we can do what we do better.
