Built around the XtaLAB Synergy-ED workflow

Hummingbird Connect™ for Rigaku is designed to support project-specific connections between Hummingbird in situ systems and the software environment used with the Rigaku XtaLAB Synergy-ED.

The XtaLAB Synergy-ED is an integrated electron diffractometer developed for three-dimensional electron diffraction and MicroED workflows, spanning sample screening, data collection, processing, and structure determination. Rigaku identifies CrysAlisPro for ED as the system’s instrument-control and single-crystal analysis software environment.

A Hummingbird Connect™ pathway could provide a foundation for incorporating relevant Hummingbird system information and experimental-state data into this established workflow. The objective is to support the Rigaku environment rather than replace it, allowing laboratories to continue using the acquisition, processing, and structure-determination tools associated with their electron-diffraction system.

What is Hummingbird Connect™?

Hummingbird Connect™ is designed to connect Hummingbird Scientific holders, stages, delivery systems, and control hardware with microscope software, acquisition tools, external equipment, and laboratory data workflows.

Rather than forcing researchers into a predefined accessory-software ecosystem, Hummingbird Connect™ focuses on the connection points required for the experiment and the tools the laboratory already trusts.

Every microscope and experiment is different. Contact Hummingbird Scientific to evaluate the most appropriate connectivity pathway for your configuration.

Integration pathways may include:

Depending on the installed system, available interfaces, and project scope, a Hummingbird Connect™ pathway may involve:

  • Hummingbird holder, stage, chip, controller, or system identification
  • Available commanded and measured values from a specific Hummingbird Control™ product
  • Experimental-state information such as temperature, electrical conditions, pressure, flow, position, alarms, or timestamps where supported
  • Export or exchange of available experimental information with a defined Rigaku or customer-selected environment
  • Coordination between Hummingbird experimental conditions and specified electron-diffraction workflow events
  • Reference workflows, customer-side tools, or project-specific engineering
  • Technical coordination among Hummingbird Scientific, Rigaku, the facility, and the customer

Rigaku describes the XtaLAB Synergy-ED as a tightly integrated workflow rather than a conventional general-purpose TEM environment. Any connection to CrysAlisPro for ED or another part of that workflow would therefore require configuration-specific technical review and cooperation with the relevant system stakeholders.

Add physical experiment context to electron-diffraction workflows

Electron-diffraction experiments may involve the sample holder, environmental conditions, instrument-control software, detector, acquisition sequence, processing tools, and structure-determination workflow.

A Hummingbird Connect™ pathway may help make relevant Hummingbird system information available alongside the diffraction measurements, allowing laboratories to relate results to the physical conditions applied to the sample.

This can be especially valuable for experiments involving heating, electrical conditions, liquid environments, or other changing sample conditions where the experiment record benefits from more than diffraction data alone.
