Announcing our New Microfabrication Division
To meet the growing demand for SiN membrane window chips, we have recently opened a dedicated microfabrication division. Spearheaded by Dr. Joe Grogan, formerly from the University of Pennsylvania, the team will provide customers with high quality chips and microfabricated devices. While its primary purpose is to support users of our atmospheric gas holder and liquid flow holders, the microfabrication division will also provide custom device design services for our other products or for your unique applications. Check out our website’s microfabrication page for more information about the latest products or to let us know how we can help you with your experiments.

Hummingbird Scientific and Dune Sciences
Surface functionalization for membrane window chips is an area of increasing importance for liquid and gas cell experiments, and we’re excited to support research in the area in partnership with Dune Sciences. The exclusive collaboration combines Hummingbird’s specialized liquid and gas cell chips with Dune Sciences’ full range of patented surface functionalization abilities, based on experience in surface chemistry and focus is something we appreciate and complements our strength in micro and nanofabrication capabilities. Making use of Dune’s expertise in surface chemistry and our own background in micro- and nanofabricaton, these functionalized liquid– and gas-cell chips extend the capabilities of the Hummingbird Scientific’s TEM holders. Read more about the collaboration here.

Hummingbird Scientific heads to Indianapolis for M&M 2013
The annual Microscopy and Microanalysis meeting is just around the corner, and it looks like an exciting one for everyone working in in-situ electron microscopy. Hummingbird Scientific will be holding two tutorials at the meeting: “In-situ observations of gas-solid reactions using an atmospheric pressure gas flow specimen holder,” held Monday August 5th, and “Interpreting results from in-situ liquid TEM experiments, decoupling real phenomena from artifacts,” held Wednesday August 7th. Dr. Daan Hein Alsem will also be presenting a cross-correlative electron microscopy liquid-cell platform for biological samples. Stop by Booth #728 to speak to Dr. Alsem and our other scientists about your experiments, or to check out our full range of TEM holders.
